Tribe of Dan
Tribe of Dan has been described as "cult greb goth outfit" and "swamp rock" by it's lead singer and founder Dan Donovan. Tribe of Dan was from England, making them Blonde Vinyl's only international band.

The only Blonde Vinyl release for Tribe of Dan was also a re-issue of an independent album with an updated color cover. Donovan continues to make music to this day, although usually under different band names. The Tribe of Dan moniker was resurrected once in 1998 to record the (so far) only follow-up album.

Guys we are making a documentary about Greenbelt Festival in the UK and want to use Shook up Shook up as one of the tracks. Who owns the rights these days? rob@bluehippomedia.com

Hi Simon :-) its been a long time. . .I remember it like it was yesterday. My sister jo and I at Greenbelt, watching Dan. There was something raw and childlike about Dan's music. We all hoped we could change the world. He was such a genuine person. I often wonder about all the people I met and what they are doing now. I recently downloaded 'shook up shook up' and it made me smile. I don't know if you are still in touch with Dan and Bobby but I'm sending my love to you all nonetheless Claire x

Hi, I thought I would resubmit..even 18 months later!I was 20 at the time of our stint with Dan, May to Oct 1991. The album tracks were laid down quickly in a Kettering studio if I remember rightly. It was speedy and simple, for me using a Simmons kit for all sounds except for the snare which was my trusty newish Sonor Force 2000 6.5" deep poplar snare drum, Premier sound control batter for a thicker rock sound! Ahem..thicker!The cymbals and toms were all overdubbed using the Sds9 Simmons pads through a Roland keyboard stealing those drumsounds.B/vox were all done in the round with Dan, Bobby and I singing in a front room with the Neumann in the middle of us and I recall Barking Dog, Shook up, Real Heart and I just want done this way. And of course a scrap and chase game trying not to laugh whilst recording!Great times, the two stand out gigs for me were Greenbelt 91 mainstage before This Picture and Chagall Guevara. Mental to play to such a massive crowd on such a prestigious stage.Islington Powerhouse a week or two later when the 99 punters who came for us alone were singing Your Hand along to the cd intro just as we were getting ready to come on! I found Him a few months later and it all began to make sense. I am still here older but not really any wiser!! Hi Jo and Claire!
