Deitiphobia
Deitiphobia is considered to be one of the first Christian Industrial bands to be released in the Christian market. Their sound has a heavy techno/dance feel to it on the Blonde Vinyl albums, even though guitars were added on later releases.

Deitiphobia is also the center of the Slava universe. Slava music was originally a mail order distributor and demo production house that quickly became a sub-label of Blonde Vinyl.

Pre-Blonde Vinyl Career

Deitiphobia started out as a group called Donderfliegen, which is a made up word that they felt sound like a German word for “Darn that fly.” They recorded a cassette demo called Digital Priests that quickly became a collector’s item. They apparently changed their name to Deitiphobia when some suggested that Donderfliegen had Nazi overtones.

Other information:
Fear of God was entirely written between April and August of 1991. Only three songs (“Crucifixion of Will,” “SPILL!,” and “I Tore the Sky”) were ever performed under the band’s previous name, donderfliegen (which means nothing literally in any language but to the band meant “darn that fly”, related to Satan as Lord of the Flies). At Cornerstone ’91, the band felt that God was telling them to clarify their image and message which led them to the name change. The focus of this album is on God as revealed through the Bible, and through sharing the Gospel. Though this type of music is unusual, the Lord has blessed the ministry that Wally and Brent have been involved in.

Other information:
Digital Priests was originally released by donderfliegen during the summer of 1991 as an independent cassette. Only 250 were manufactured and fewer than that were sold. Judging from the mail that we received asking for some of those songs, we decided to re-release them (sort of) on a much larger scale. We have upgraded some of them and added some of our more current material. The entire project has been revamped, re-recorded, and re-mastered. This is not a follow-up to our debut, Fear of God, but instead a kind of experimental collection of past and present donderfliegen/Deitiphobia. Enjoy.

All songs on this project were originally written and recorded by DEITIPHOBIA. They were creatively procured and extracted, then digitally spindled, folded, and otherwise manipulated until they hardly bore a resemblance to the original masters (Fear of God, Blonde Vinyl, 1991 and Digital Priests: the remixes, Blonde Vinyl, 1992). By adding his misunderstood genius, Michael Knott was able to create a veritable plethora of new and interesting sounds. Think of it as a sonic painting using the sounds of DEITIPHOBIA as the colors. The collage contained on this album is his creation as a tip of the hat between friends.

Wally Shaw and his wife formed an industrial metal band called Massivivid in 1996.

    I bought ‘Fear Of God’ on cassette in 1991 and I still have it somewhere. It’s getting a little worn but still kicks. I made a copy of it for a friend who was in a ‘home for wayward teens’. It quickly became the biggest album there.
