The Billboard Guide to Contemporary Christian Music by Barry Alfonso

The Billboard Guide to Contemporary Christian Music by Barry Alfonso was published in 2002 by Watson-Guptill Publishers. Alfonso created am abbreviated guide to the CCM scene. Michael Knott and a few of his bands are mentioned only a few times, but it was obvious that Alfonso was a fan.

This list is a catalog of the times that Knott or one of his bands was mentioned. They are presented as they appeared in the book, with some mistakes noted. Bold names of bands and individuals does not note importance – this just notes they also had an article in the book.

The entry for Michael Knott was collected into a single PDF:

Introduction

“There’s a sub-genre within Contemporary Christian music of gifted writer/artists who are too left-of-center for Christian radio and too faith-oriented for secular record companies. These include Daniel Amos, the 77s, Michael Knott, and the late Mark Heard – important Maverick talents who deserve far more exposure.” (pp.9-10)

Adam Again

“A Tribute to Gene Eugene documented a concert in his honor at the 2000 Cornerstone Festival, featuring performances by Michael Knott and members of the Choir, the 77s, and Over the Rhine.” (p.110)

Dakota Motor Company

“(Peter) King joined a group called the Surfers, while (Derik) Toy and (Chuck) Cummins (sic) signed on with the Aunt Bettys.” (p.150) (note: Derik Toy never joined the Aunt Bettys)
