Inspired by the Aunt Bettys tribute performance in April 2024, and backed by the overwhelming response to this Kickstarter campaign, the Aunt Bettys are excited to announce Off the Record, a five-song collection revisiting some of the standout tracks from their debut, with a lineup of friends breathing new life into the words. Making special appearances on the ep are Michele Palmer (Adam Again), Seth Roberts (Watashi Wa), Bill Campbell (The Throes), Stormie Fraser (Michael’s daughter in her debut performance), Steve Hindalong (The Choir), Matt Slocum (Sixpence None the Richer), Rick McDonough, and Ryan Lee Mead (GoForth, a band that also featured Chuck & Andrew from the Bettys)
The album was mixed and mastered by Chris Colbert, an engineer responsible for legendary Knott releases, including The Grape Prophet and Grace Shaker. Everything was mixed on analog outboard gear, to replicate the sound of the 90s. “Double” was mixed by Stephen Leiweke at Yackland Studio.
Adorning the cover of the EP is a pencil sketch by Stephen Cefalo, one of his study drawings for the painting on the cover of the new reissue.
