Retroactive Records to Release Fluid, Grace Shaker, and A Kiss of Life on CD and Vinyl

Retroactive Records has announced that they are reissuing Michael Knott’s Fluid, L.S.U.’s Grace Shaker, and Lifesavers A Kiss of Life on CD and vinyl. They all come with historical write-ups and and images. The Fluid release will come with a re-imagined version of the “Get Well Jenny May” card that was part of the advertising campaign. The CD version of A Kiss of Life will feature the original artwork for the first time on CD. Check out the full announcement details here, along with links to pre-order.

L.S.U. “Radio Satan” Promotional Video Unearthed

From Pan-Con Productions: “We filmed and created this video for Michael Knott for the 1993 Cash in Chaos album after the epic LSU mainstage performance at the Cornerstone Festival in Bushnell, Illinois… hosted by JPUSA.

We sent him the raw footage, and he approved of this video interpretation, but we lost it for 32 years.

Until now. Here it is raw. You may have to increase your volume and bass. It was transferred from Hi-8 to VHS to DVD and this.

We loved Mike Knott and LSU so much…we are still mourning over the loss of the coolest dude artist.”

Delirium Blue (Former Members of Bomb Bay Babies) Release Music

Fans of Michael Knott’s Bomb Bay Babies probably would remember the names Jamie Makarczyk and Neal Vorndran – the other two guys in the band with Knott (along with Brian Doidge in the early days). They also played on Wakin’ Up the Dead after Bomb Bay Babies broke up. What some might not know is that they formed a band with Jamie’s brother Alex and Chuck Rodriquez called Delirium Blue. Their 1990’s recordings seem to have been lost to time – until now. Their album Requiem has been uploaded to BandCamp. L.S. Underground’s “Finding Angel” Re-issued on CD

Remember the CD-R release in 2001 of Finding Angel by L.S. Underground / Michael Knott? Unfortunatey, many of those CD-Rs did not last long, so Joshua Lory has spearheaded a re-issue of this lo-fi entry in Knott’s catalog on pressed CDs in a slimline case. A limited number have been manufactured, so make sure to grab a copy from Young Earth Records on BandCamp.

Pre-Order the Vinyl Re-Issue of L.S.U.’s This is the Healing

Young Earth Records has launched the Pre-Order of the Vinyl Re-issue of L.S.U.’s classic This is the Healing album. Remastered by Cliffy Huntington, the remaster will feature a new cover painting by Michael Knott, rare photos, and a brand new write-up. Vinyl delays mean this won’t ship until well into next year, but be sure to get on top of this now to make sure it happens.

Fourth Wave Reality Rock Vinyl is Available

The Fourth Wave Reality Rock vinyl re-issue has been released. For those that don’t know, it is a vinyl re-release of the 1993 Third Wave Reality Rock CD with an expanded list of bands. L.S.U. was added in that expansion, with their song “Shaded Pain” closing out the collection. I have also found at least one old school pic of Knott in the liner notes. Oh, and Blonde Vinyl artist Black and White World also make an appearance with their track “Too Young to be Sad.” Not to mention all kinds of bands that Knott has worked and played with. There are still a few copies available – you can contact the people behind the project through the Reality Rock Facebook Page to see if they can sell you a copy.

Pre-order L.S. Undeground’s “The Grape Prophet” Re-Issue From Lost in Ohio Now!

Did you miss out on the L.S. Underground The Grape Prophet Kickstarter? Then Lost in Ohio has some good news for you:

“After being out of print for nearly 30 years, and after an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign in 2020, Lost in Ohio is pleased to announce a pre-order for L.S. Underground’s legendary rock opera The Grape Prophet. For those unfamiliar, The Grape Prophet tells the story of Ellis, a worker at an orange grove who is sent to the vineyards of the Grape Prophet, in order to bring back the pickers who have been lured away. It was the first of frontman Michael Knott’s trilogy of rock operas. The album has remained a fan favorite, but has been out of print in physical form since soon after its release in 1992.

In addition to reissuing the album digitally and on CD, we will be releasing it for the first time on vinyl (available in either orange or grape). Michael has also recorded new acoustic versions of four of the album’s tracks, which are complemented by strings by Luke Moller (Carrie Underwood, Kasey Musgraves), and performances from Steve Hindalong (The Choir), Jesse Sprinkle (Poor Old Lu) and Rick McDonough (Struck Last May). The new tracks were recorded by Rick McDonough and mixed by Derri Daugherty, and the entire affair has received a fresh master from Adam Boose.

Stretch Goal Announced for The Grape Prophet Vinyl Reissue

A little late on this one, but an exciting stretch goal being offered for The Grape Prophet vinyl re-issue:

“Thanks again to everyone who has contributed to this campaign! We are so excited that Grape Prophet on vinyl (and deluxe CD, and streaming) is going to be a reality!

We are announcing a STRETCH GOAL of $15,000. If we are able to hit this number, Michael & Rick will be doing acoustic recordings of FOUR tracks from Grape Prophet:

  • Ellis in the Orchard
  • The Fold
  • English Interpreter of English
  • She Said

For all four of these tracks, we are also contracting with a Nashville-based composer to have string quartet arrangements written and recorded, adding an amazing dimension to the new recordings.

If we hit our stretch goal, anyone who has selected a vinyl record will receive this as a bonus 12″ (in place of the bonus 7″ originally planned), and all four tracks will be included in the CD and digital versions as well!”

Help Lost in Ohio Re-Issue L.S.Underground’s “The Grape Prophet” on Vinyl

“In 1992, Michael Knott’s band L.S. Underground released their rock opera The Grape Prophet. It tells the story of Ellis, an orange picker who is sent by his boss Col. Peckesen to rescue his fellow pickers from the clutches of the Grape Prophet, who has lured them away. Both sonically and lyrically, the album was a revelation, and has remained a favorite of fans and critics ever since.

Originally released on CD and cassette by Knott’s own Blonde Vinyl Records, the album has been out of print for over 25 years. We plan to remedy that! We are working with Adam Boose to remaster the album for vinyl and digital (He’s worked with some of our favorite artists, including Guided By Voices, Joy Electric, CUSH and Brandston). Michael Knott and Rick McDonough are also going into the studio to record brand-new acoustic renditions of two of the tracks: “Ellis in the Orchard” and “She Said”!”
